SKI SEASON FINALE

March 23 to March 30
2024

Four Mountains and Ski Slopes of Shangri La
SNOWMASS, Buttermilk, Aspen, and Aspen Highlands–THE POWER OF FOUR

The Aspen Skiing Company touts Snowmass/Aspen as “more than just a place, it’s a state of mind where people merge together in an epicenter of outdoors and culture, adventure and glamour, and duct-tape-to-diamonds.  Where mind, body, and spirit unite to form an idea…an idea that cultivates a state of bliss meant to inspire and invigorate away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.”

Why SNOWMASSSnowmass is loved by ALL- as it offers skiing opportunities for everyone.  The resort boasts of trails for an array of talents, with 5% beginner, 48% intermediate, 17% advanced, and 30% expert.  Snowmass experiences an annual snowfall of over 300 inches with the capability to manufacture snow accommodating 230 acres.

UNCROWDED:  Every day is a different adventure with 20 lifts servicing 147 miles of trails.  Lifts deliver an average of 2 people per acre per hour on a total accessible terrain of 2132 acres.  Challenge yourself to the longest run, Long Shot, 5.3 miles from beginning to end.  Stop at the Big Foot Crossing for a perfect photo opportunity with family and/or friends.  Whether you downhill, cross country or snowboard, Snowmass has something to offer all, from novice to the extreme skier.

TOP OF THE VILLAGESlope side above Snowmass Mall provides the ultimate in luxurious ski-in/ski-out condominium lodging.  Reservations are for two-bed/two-bath and three-bed/three bath condos each with a balcony overlooking the slope.  Additional amenities include fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, barbeque, high speed Internet, washer/dryer, porterage and complimentary on-call shuttle service throughout Snowmass

Join hosts Jody Bender and Dave Johnson for their ninth trip to Snowmass, enjoying lodging convenience on the Slopes of Shangri La (aka SNOWMASS) with cosmopolitan après ski adventure only nine miles away in Aspen.

Included with the price of the trip is round trip airfare, seven nights lodging, a 4 day of 10 day ski card with a bonus 5th day included at no cost, a condo meet and greet wine and cheese party, and of course, pre and post-trip – “bring a dish to pass” parties.

Trip participants will meet at Detroit Metro and depart on a non-stop Delta flight arriving in Denver mid-morning.  Group ground transportation will shuttle all to the Top of the Village after making a short stop at Apple Jacks and the nearby grocery store for sprits and provisions (come with your lists prepared).

During the week, Top of the Village will host a wine and cheese party.  A slope side lunch or dinner is being researched for mid-week, along with the option for the “official group photo.”

Aspen Ski Company will prepare 5-day RF cards and issue them on arrival, so hitting the slopes will be a priority on Sunday, maybe even making the first tracks of the day! You choose your ski day off or load an additional day of skiing (in advance of arrival) on the card at the pre-arranged group discount rate.

Individually or in groups you can choose from glades, steeps, terrain parks, or half pipes or participate in ski and/or snowboard schools, First Tracks, nature tours, on-mountain dinners, snowshoeing, or NASTAR, to name only a few of the available extra-curricular activities.

Camaraderie of group participants will allow for the development of impromptu activities such as on slope meeting for lunch breaks, progressive “condo-gating” and grazing, guzzling, and gregarity, hot-tub happenings….and who knows what else.

Secure reservations quickly as the trip is limited to the first 36 members committing with deposit to a fun-filled ski vacation during the prime ski week in the Snowmass/Aspen area.

Pricing of this trip is based upon participation with economies of scale featured:

  • 36 committed reservations, trip will price out at $2650.
  • Reservations under 36 will increase cost per person by $75 to $2725.

Based upon maximum participation the deposit and subsequent payment schedule will be as follows:

  • Initial Deposit of $550 made payable to Toledo Ski Club now will reserve a spot and confirm your reservation.
  • Three additional equal payments of $700 are due 10/1/23, 12/1/23 and 1/21/24.

Your Toledo Ski Club trip hosts will be Jody Bender and Dave Johnson.

 TRAVEL & TRIP INSURANCE

What does travel insurance cover?

Most travel insurance plans cover several trip protections, including accidental death and dismemberment, baggage delay and loss, emergency medical coverage and evacuation, trip cancellation, delay or interruptionThese protections can help you prepare for unexpected disruptions and expenses when traveling, and help you recover money paid upfront when booking a major trip.

For instance, if your flight is delayed or canceled, most travel insurance plans will cover an extra hotel night or taxi ride expense you incur as a result. Travel insurance can also help you recover, say, prepaid hotel and rental car reservations if you need to cancel your trip due to a covered incident.  Plans can also offset the cost of valuables in your luggage if the airline loses your bags.  Additionally, many comprehensive travel insurance plans have medical coverage to serve as an insurance policy if you get sick or injured while traveling, to offset costs not covered by your normal health insurance plan abroad.

Just like health insurance and car insurance keep you from having to incur large out-of-pocket expenses when you get sick or crash a car, travel insurance protections keep you from having to take a financial hit due to unexpected situations that come up during your travels.

How much does travel insurance cost?

Travel insurance costs vary widely. The final price of your plan will fluctuate based on your age, length of trip and the destination.   It will also depend on how much coverage you need, whether you add specialized policies (like Cancel for Any Reason or pre-existing conditions coverage), whether you plan to participate in extreme sports and other factors.

You as the trip participant are encouraged to purchase travel and trip insurance either through the Tour Operator, Winter Ski and Sport/GTS, or through a third party on-line.  By signing below, you acknowledge what trip insurance can do for you in a crisis.
